The photographer Alex Prager directed a series of elegant videos portraying the cinematic villainy for The New York Times Magazine. Inspired by nefarious icons and featuring the best film performers from last year, each video is a unique art piece, where a 60s touch and an amazing sound work enhance the villainy and the tension of actions.

The video filmed in a French castle is concept of Lana and directed by Woodkid, beeing the first non-webcam video production of the singer.

After some expectation caused by the teaser, finally the new video of Fleet Foxes was released, a radiant and strong 8 minutes and 23 seconds film. Directed by Sean Pecknold (vocalist Robert Pecknold’s brother), the film is packed with magic and atmosphere that makes the narrative, that so well fits the sound, a complete sensory experience.

From the first time I saw this Teaser I was left a peculiar unrest and curiosity of what was this video about. This great direction, lighting, and sound in a edition of fast small excerpts worked almost a brainwash of high quality visual information. Was interesting to discover that all that greatness and associated to a fashion brand and not a teaser of art film.

Just came across with the single ‘Parix’ of the Danish band When Saints Go Machine album ‘Konkylie’. Captivating from the first instant the music’s great mood and tone perfectly fits the slow video atmosphere from the director Daniel Kragh-Jacobsen.

When Saints Go Machine is officially a new add to my playlist.

The beautiful narrative “Cecelia & Her Selfhood”, from the Irish band Villagers, found a film of pair beauty, directed by Adrien Merigeau (that recently presented Old Fangs), the story of love for a statue is presented with a strong and calm charm in an animation that by the simple lines reminds of a nostalgic childhood.

“Nothing explains the film better than the film itself. Nonetheless, here is a concise and vaguely pretentious synopsis:

The film charts the development of a young man as he navigates his way through an impressionistic landscape in search of an elusive monster which is intent on destroying his childhood home. Lost and confused for the most part, he nonetheless uncovers the beast; a creature whose origins are both terrifying and liberating.”

100 years of East London style in 100 seconds, this promotional video shows the 100 years countdown to the opening of Westfield Stratford City, the biggest shopping mall in Europe.

Directed by Jake Lunt and produced by The Viral Factory, this video fast captivates our interest because of how well is represented the story of a century using wardrobe and choreography, the two topics that this video is all about.

One of the best and most addictive new voice of 2011, Lana Del Rey will most definitively become a new music icon. Self-proclaimed “gangster Nancy Sinatra” accompanied by minimal arrangement of harp and cinematic strings, the NYC singer-songwriter makes “Video Games” a classic with a so peculiar low-brow video that fast grips our interested, not only by the her unprecedented natural beauty but by the appealing video selection used to make the clip.

The words of wisdom from Charles Bukowski’s poem The Laughing Heart make the new campaign “Legacy” from Levi’s another stunning production of Wieden+Kennedy.
A contemporary imagery alongside of the poem makes this this campaign touching and so real that elevates Levi’s from a denim manufacturer to a lifestyle that values life over all. Because life is beautiful.

After El Guincho’s Bombay video, the producer Canada presents us a new dreamlike video, this time for White Nights from the Danish singer-songwriter and record producer Nanna Øland Fabricius, known as Oh Land.
The video is a well conceived production, with a magical essence, and with an amazing set and costume design that very fast start to surprise us.
